Make UR Own: Coptic Journal

Make UR Own: Coptic Journal In-Person

The Coptic binding, originally employed by Coptic Christians in Egypt in the 4th century CE, endures as a beautiful and versatile modern codex bookbinding method. At the end of this workshop, you will have your own 96-page Coptic journal with paper-covered boards and exposed spine stitching. Do you have a summer or fall study abroad planned? This multi-section book lays completely flat, making it the perfect travel journal or sketchbook. No prior bookbinding experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided by the Book Arts Studio. This workshop is restricted to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. Note: this is a sewing intensive structure, so keep that in mind when registering.
